A Blueprint for LibertyON VIEW OCT. 5, 2026 - DEC. 19, 2026This fall, the Morris Center for Lowcountry Heritage welcomes A Blueprint for Liberty, a traveling exhibition developed by the South Carolina Historical Society and the South Carolina State Museum with support from the South Carolina American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission (SC250). The exhibition looks beyond familiar stories of battles and Patriot leaders to ask a broader question: What did liberty mean to the different people living through the American Revolution? Through text, maps, images and historical reproductions, A Blueprint for Liberty explores the experiences of African Americans, Native Americans, women and Loyalists in Revolutionary-era South Carolina. Their stories reveal the competing ideas of freedom, rights and citizenship that shaped the Revolution and the nation that followed. Alongside the exhibition, the Morris Center will present Freedom’s Many Fronts, a three-part speaker series exploring these perspectives in greater depth. Programs will take place on the second Thursday of October, November and December at 6pm. A Blueprint for Liberty is on view Wednesday through Saturday, 11am–3pm. Admission to the MCLH is always free.
