Video Resources

Additionally, students will benefit in having an introduction to the Catawba Indians and Pottery. This video from SCETV provides some background for students’ interactions with the pottery at the Morris Center. Watching and discussing this video attends to Standard: 4.1.CX (Contextualize the experience of Africans, Europeans, and Native Americans in South Carolina. This indicator was developed to promote inquiry into how South Carolina developed as a result of the relationship among various ethnic, political, and religious groups.)

Teachers may want to watch this video from The National Gallery of Art to understand how to implement the See, Think, Wonder routine. Notice how the museum educator shares historical information about the 54th Massachusetts.

Teachers may use this read aloud version of Hold the Flag High: The True Story of the First Black Medal of Honor Winner by Catherine Clinton for Pre-visit activity Option 3.
